Or, was it? I remember the 50's only vaguely. It seems like a dream mostly. I like to joke that I was born in "The Year of Elvis". It's purely "tongue in cheek" as though any one personality should define how time is measured, or even to define who we are by some Collective Unconscious phenomenon, or larger than life person, that is more an image, or some Jungian archetype.
I am an artist, and I knew it even as a young child in the early 60's. I found myself alone with God, my only friend. I developed a panentheistic view through my close association with nature, my aloneness with the "One".
More on all that later. Our family moved around a bit, and as would be expected, the change and lacking of "fitting in" took me in directions off of the "beaten path" even at a very young age. As such, I found myself drawn into copying the world around me through the medium of visual art. I drew from reality, and my imagination. I studied the lives and art of such artists as Leonardo, Carraveggio, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Rubens, Pissarro, Monet, Degas, and on and on. So many more artists, I was entranced with their work. That was my world as a child.
I have survived much, as anyone my age can boast. I am still an artist. I am also a musician, and a yoga instructor. Life is a miracle. It is a work of art. It is a journey. It is beautiful. It is a burden. What isn't it? It's not perfect. It depends on who you ask. I started this blog, but, I have so many other things to do. I will journey back this way again, and see what my fingers type. I have much more to say....but, where do I begin? Even when I first got here... I knew that I had been somewhere before...I just couldn't for the life of me remember. Then all this ....this "evil"..the "hatred" and "meaness" in the world. I couldn't relate to it. I realized I was in a very "dark" place. I began my search for the Light.
